Today we got there

Today we sat in J1.15 with a task - to come up with the actual ideas for the images to address the concept of 'silenced'.

Whilst engaged in an exercise where we were attempting to draw images that we wanted to photograph, we got closer to the actual images.  None of us draw well!

There will be a priest in each of the images, representing the church as state, as oppressor and silencer - silencing those within and without.

Image 1:  A priest and a woman.  With an image or statue of Mary Magdalene.

Image 2:  A priest and a man.  A box of MANSIZE tissues.   Shame silences abuse.  ? how to represent shame as a silencer.

Image 3: A priest and a same sex couple - kissing?  Maybe the priest ignores their presence, is aroused by it?  Repelled?

Image 4: Naked priest with his institutional garments hung up.  Taking off the institutional clothing.

An image of the pope in the background.  Use of props will be interesting - but a sense of keeping it minimal and simple was shared.

We looked at prop needs, location ideas, lighting and atmosphere suggestions.

I was relieved that we got to this point - proof that when four people get together ideas will flow eventually.
